If Bruno Dey is a murderer than so are millions of other soldiers

Bruno Dey is indeed guilty of murder - though he was 'just following orders'. Next in the docket should be a million or so soldiers - also 'just following orders' who killed civilians in WWII, Korea, Viet Nam and Iraq.

Oh!, and what about the crew and commanders of the Enola Gay who dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and incinerated hundreds of thousands of Japanese men, women and children.

Murderous robots will soon replace murderous soldiers

And of course having machines without ethics or conscience is more efficient than our current use of soldiers without ethics or conscience and let's not forget that the workers who assemble these robots are just as much murderers as are soldiers who pull triggers and fly drones. Evolution is about making war extinct - not more efficient.

I remember on the 11th of November that if it weren't for soldiers there would be no wars!

Politicians start wars... soldiers fight wars.... then, when enough people have been killed, enough land laid to waste, politicians stop the war.

Just say, "HECK NO, I WON'T GO!"

God washes the blood from soldier's hands and forgives

It should come as no surprise that the Jewish National Fund (a religious organization) supports their military. Religions - Judaism, Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Mormons, Hindus, Bahais - all support the military and war ... in the name of their respective 'benevolent' Gods.

The Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam and lessons yet learned

1.7 people massacred in the Christian Crusade 1094 AD; 6m Jews massacred 1945; 500 Viet Namese massacred 1968; 347 American Indians massacred 1622 and one lovely girl massacred 1944. —- neither year nor nationality nor gender stays the murderous hand of soldiers.

My point? Soldiers! “Just say no!”

Today is United Nations International Day of Peace

"I refuse to accept the idea that the "isness" of man's present nature makes him morally incapable of reaching up for the eternal "oughtness" that forever confronts him.

I refuse to accept the idea that man is mere flotsom and jetsom in the river of life, unable to influence the unfolding events which surround him.

I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism   and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality."

..... Martin Luther King Jr., part of his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech, 1964

refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.

Killing - from two kilometres away.

Disgusting!

This Canadian company sells rifles that kill from two kilometres away, "Since the dawn of time, mankind has been engaged in war, and part of that is equipping yourself properly," says Ross Spagrud, co-owner of PGW Defence Technologies.

Shame on PGW and shame on us Canadians  as we are one of the world's largest arms exporters.

Trump is finally getting his wish - a war

Sounds as if Trump (via America's proxies Israel and Saudi Arabia) is preparing to go to war against the rest of the Middle East.

Afghanistan may be Trump's Waterloo

The headline in today's Washington Post reads,"Trump announces new strategy for Afghanistan that calls for a troop increase", which kind of reminds me of a Viet-Nam War protest song by Pete Seeger (photo above). The chorus goes...

"They were waist deep in the big muddy and the big fool said to push on."

What is a military draft dodger? - Check out this amazing documentary

It is just a matter of months before Trump reinstitutes the military draft in America so if you don't know the difference between a draft dodger, resister, or deserter. Or if you missed the 60s and 70s. Check out this amazing documentary by filmmaker Eugene Ashe, of Seven Letter Word Films.

Unfortunately, the doc was never completed (this is a rough cut) because the stock footage he wanted to use was prohibitively expensive. https://vimeo.com/212496794

R.I.P. Audrey Tobias: Protester against the weapons maker Lockheed Martin

Photo by Chris Young, Canadian Press

"An activist who made headlines when she was criminally charged for refusing to fill out the census three years ago will be remembered for her spirit and tenacity at a funeral service in Toronto today.

Family members say Audrey Tobias died on Dec. 1. She was 92.

Friends and relatives say Tobias fought for causes large and small and had the ability to rally others to her side.

That drawing power came through in full force during her 2013 trial, which saw some 80 friends and supporters -- many of them retired -- fill a courtroom in downtown Toronto in solidarity.

Tobias was charged with violating the Statistics Act when she refused to fill out the 2011 census over its link to Lockheed Martin, a company she reviled. The American aerospace and weapons giant provided optic recognition software to Statistics Canada that helped analyze and process the census forms."

Hiroshima: where America incinerated thousand of men, women and children

On August 6th, 1945 the crew of the Enola Gay (below) dropped an atomic bomb on a Hiroshima - a city filled with men, women and children civilians. The heat from the blast literally melted the flesh off people. Seventy years later the radioactivity from the blast is still killing people.

90,000–146,000 people died in Hiroshima and 39,000–80,000 died in Nagasaki. Not one member of the Enola Gay crew, or their superiors, was ever charged with mass murder.

(I apologise for this late post. I should have uploaded it yesterday)
