The lonesome death of Jacobo Luis Fuchs

On this day - seven years ago - my friend Mr. Fuchs was rendered unconscious with drugs then denied food and liquids. Seven days later he died of starvation in a nursing home room - alone - surrounded only by the whirl of machines, cold fluorescent light, and impending death.

"You who philosophize disgrace,
And criticize all fears.
Bury the rag most deep in your face
Now is the time for your tears."

When FaceBook's 'Your Memories' bring tears

It's been 6 years since my ex Michelle Ramsay cut me off from my grand kids. Not one day passes without me thinking about Zyg and Mila and missing them.

Never let your loved ones die alone

My friend Mr. Fuchs died alone, not because he had the flu and his family was barred from his room at Ottawa's Grace Manor but because his heartless, penny-pinching family didn't care enough to sit with him in his final hours.

Happy Anniversary to me and my blog

Hey all you lovely folks in the Blogsphere. Today is the fifth anniversary of this blog (Yeahhhhhh!)

I started this blog April 4 after my Ex cut off access to my grandchildren Zyg Ramsay and Mila Ramsay. So, one of the purposes of this blog was, and is, to establish an electronic paper trail that, years from now, would lead my lovely grandchildren to me, or if I have already reached the end of my life, remind them that I never stopped loving or thinking of them.

I apologise to you, my readers, if some of my blog posts seem a tad weird.  I really need to keep some people's names prominent on the search engines so that they, sadly the wrong people to have been entrusted to safeguard my grandchildren, know that they are being watched by us - kind, caring souls who feel passionately about protecting children.

Over the past 1200 blog posts, my following has grown from zero to many tens of thousands. To you amazing folks in:
  •  Canada
  • America
  • UK
  • France
  • Netherlands
  • Germany
  • Nigeria
  • South Africa
  • Russia
  • Ukraine
  • China
  • Guam
  • Switzerland
  • Viet Nam
  • Poland
  • Iran
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Pakistan
  • Australia
  • Japan
  • South Korea
  • ... and quite a few other countries

I thank each and every one of you and I hope my posts about Mother Earth, nutrition, non-violence, fitness, anti-euthanasia, politics, ethics, my friend Mr. Fuchs, birthdays, and passings have been both entertaining, informative, controversial, and creative.

Happy Pi Day!

Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant Ï€ (pi). Pi Day is observed on March 14 which makes perfect sense as the first three significant digits of Ï€ are 3,1,4 (e.g. March 14)

According to the website Angio, Pi (Ï€) is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. It doesn't matter how big or small the circle is - the ratio stays the same. Properties like this that stay the same when you change other attributes are called constants. Because it's so easily observed (you can measure it with a piece of string!),

Pi has been popular for centuries, thanks to Archimedes of Syracuse (289-212 BC) who first calculate Pi.

Sooooo!.... Let us set aside some time today to celebrate everything that is constant - life, death, taxes, sunrises, sunsets, good friends, bad friends, love, hate, forgiveness and revenge.

"I'm just trying to leave something behind"

Every March 6, the day their grandmother cut me off from my grandchildren, I visit the train station. Zyg loved trains and Mila loved to dress as a princess, so I sit and watch the trains and imagine there is a princess aboard.

Happy American Thanksgiving Zyg and Mila Ramsay

Dear Zyg and Mila:

It has now been 2121 days since I last saw your lovely faces and 56 months since she succeeded in cutting me off from you.

It is your country's Thanksgiving, but it is me who is thankful that the two of you came into my life. Don't forget that not a day passes that Grandfather doesn't think of you and miss you.

Love you both lots and lots,

Your Grandfather (A.G.)

Happy Birthday Alice in Wonderland

“If you don't know where you are going any road can take you there”
― Lewis Carrol, Alice in Wonderland

(Two of the collection of Alice related, hand-painted metal figures I bought in Paris for my grandchildren but will likely never deliver because I was cut off from them four years ago. The pairing in this photo contains a telling metaphor.)

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (commonly shortened to Alice in Wonderland), published on November 26, 1865, is a novel written by English mathematician Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll.

It tells of a girl named Alice falling through a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. The tale plays with logic, giving the story lasting popularity with adults as well as with children. It is considered to be one of the best examples of the literary nonsense genre.

Its narrative course and structure, characters and imagery have been enormously influential[2] in both popular culture and literature, especially in the fantasy genre..... Wikipedia
