Alberta continues to rape the earth

"Alberta is cancelling blanket environmental protections that have been in place since the 1970s and making it easier to develop open-pit coal mines in some of the province's most ecologically sensitive areas."

Enough with the COVID-19 insanity!

OK! Enough of this fear mongering!

The economic and social damage done by this 'self-isolation' mania far outweighs the health benefits. More people die daily of smoking and obesity-related disease than 'the virus'. Half of Canadians live paycheque to paycheque. The economic damage done this 'Isolationism' and the resulting thousands of layoffs will result in people losing their homes, not paying their rent, or affording food or contributing to their children's education, suicide, and marital breakdowns.

Let us go back to work, to school, to living our lives. Just like every flu season - resources should be focused on the very young, the very old, people who are immune- compromised and health care workers.

Everyone else - let's get back to our lives - wash our hands - keep them away from our face and stay home if we're sick with 'the virus', the regular flu, measles, mumps or the common cold.

If our politicians really care about the health of Canadians - start by banning cigarettes and sugar-saturated beverages.

Canada selling military equipment to murderous Saudi Arabia is OK?

Thank goodness that Canada is not the hypocritical, immoral, unethical, greedy bugger that I thought we were for selling military equipment to the despicable Saudi Arabian government.

The Canadian government's Global Affairs office, after careful and impartial consideration, has advised the Canadian government's Foreign Affairs Office that selling military equipment to the murderous Saudi Arabian government is perfectly OK.

Nevsun Resources fights slavery charge

The Canadian mining company Nevsun Resources has the audacity to claim that African miners have no right to sue the Canadian company for human rights violations (slavery) because it happened in Africa. Shame on Nevsun. Interestingly, the criminal execs at Nevsun recently sold the company to the Chinese, who know a thing or two about human-rights violations.

Ban handguns now!

Newsflash: (two years later): ridiculously expensive study by former cop Bill Blair amazingly discovers that "handguns and assault weapons are only designed to kill people and recommends that the next government possibly, maybe consider legislation banning them."

In 2019 we need to vote in a PM who has the guts to actually 'lead'. Canada hasn't had a Prime Minister with any guts since Kim Campbell.

Killing - from two kilometres away.

Disgusting!

This Canadian company sells rifles that kill from two kilometres away, "Since the dawn of time, mankind has been engaged in war, and part of that is equipping yourself properly," says Ross Spagrud, co-owner of PGW Defence Technologies.

Shame on PGW and shame on us Canadians  as we are one of the world's largest arms exporters.

What is a military draft dodger? - Check out this amazing documentary

It is just a matter of months before Trump reinstitutes the military draft in America so if you don't know the difference between a draft dodger, resister, or deserter. Or if you missed the 60s and 70s. Check out this amazing documentary by filmmaker Eugene Ashe, of Seven Letter Word Films.

Unfortunately, the doc was never completed (this is a rough cut) because the stock footage he wanted to use was prohibitively expensive. https://vimeo.com/212496794

Viola Desmond - Canada's Rosa Parks - finally honoured

"Black rights activist Viola Desmond, who was jailed for defiantly sitting in the "whites only" section of a Nova Scotia film house, will be the first Canadian woman to be featured on the country's $10 bill.

Desmond is often referred to as "Canada's Rosa Parks," though her historic act of defiance occurred nine years before Parks famously refused to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Ala.

At age 32, Desmond decided to go to the Roseland Theatre to see a movie while her car was getting fixed on Nov. 8, 1946, but she was thrown out of the "whites only" section and sent to jail. Black people could only sit in the balcony of the theatre.

The next morning, Desmond was convicted of defrauding the province of a one penny tax, the difference in tax between a downstairs and upstairs ticket, even though Desmond had asked to pay the one cent difference.

Desmond was released after paying a $20 fine and $6 in court costs. She appealed her conviction but lost."

Canadian government facilitates torture

"A prominent Canadian victim of abuse behind bars in Syria is calling on the government to cancel controversial directives that allow for the sharing of intelligence that could lead to torture.

Abdullah Almalki, a Canadian who was imprisoned and tortured in Syria for almost two years, said Tuesday it is time the Liberals ditched the policy that was enacted by the previous Conservative government.

Almalki said the current government must end Canada's "previous complicity in torture.
The Liberals say they are reviewing the directives as part of a broader security review."

Please EMAIL  Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and tell him to get out of the torture business.
