Kids only offered peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for school lunch
Kudos to yogurt company Chobani and their CEO Hamdi Ulukaya for paying the $55,000 owed to Warwick Public Schools by students who were behind in paying for their school lunches. The school only offered the kids peanut butter and jelly sandwiches until they paid up.
Shame on Warwick Public Schools and America - the richest country in the world.
As Mrs. Ulukaya says, "access to nutritious food should be a right, not a privilege."

Three children euthanized in Belgium
"Three minors have been euthanised in Belgium since euthanasia for children was legalised in 2014. According to the latest report from the government agency (PDF in French) which tracks euthanasia deaths, the children were 9, 11 and 17 years old. Two died in 2016 and 1 last year.
Under the existing law, their request for death has to be voluntary and well-considered and the patient must be suffering unbearably, with no prospect of improvement."

England fails 25% of mentally troubled children
"More than a quarter of children
referred to mental health services in England in 2015 - including some
who had attempted suicide - received no help, a report says.
A review by the Children's Commissioner also found that 13% with life-threatening conditions were not allowed specialist support.
She said the system was "playing Russian roulette" with their health.
NHS England said it was "clearly the case" that services need to expand.
The commissioner obtained data from 48 of England's 60 child and adolescent mental health service trusts, and discovered 28% of child referrals were denied specialist treatment - mostly on the grounds that their illness was not serious enough."
