If Bruno Dey is a murderer than so are millions of other soldiers

Bruno Dey is indeed guilty of murder - though he was 'just following orders'. Next in the docket should be a million or so soldiers - also 'just following orders' who killed civilians in WWII, Korea, Viet Nam and Iraq.

Oh!, and what about the crew and commanders of the Enola Gay who dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and incinerated hundreds of thousands of Japanese men, women and children.

Happy Birthday Joan Baez

You are an inspirational force of nature and an amazing singer/song-writer.

I will never forget the day I saw you perform "We Shall Overcome" at an anti-war rally in New York City.

Afghanistan may be Trump's Waterloo

The headline in today's Washington Post reads,"Trump announces new strategy for Afghanistan that calls for a troop increase", which kind of reminds me of a Viet-Nam War protest song by Pete Seeger (photo above). The chorus goes...

"They were waist deep in the big muddy and the big fool said to push on."

What is a military draft dodger? - Check out this amazing documentary

It is just a matter of months before Trump reinstitutes the military draft in America so if you don't know the difference between a draft dodger, resister, or deserter. Or if you missed the 60s and 70s. Check out this amazing documentary by filmmaker Eugene Ashe, of Seven Letter Word Films.

Unfortunately, the doc was never completed (this is a rough cut) because the stock footage he wanted to use was prohibitively expensive. https://vimeo.com/212496794

Happy Birthday Eartha Kitt - and thank you

Ms. Kitt as Catwoman in the 1960s series Batman

Eartha Mae Kitt (January 17, 1927 – December 25, 2008) was an American singer, actress, activist and voice actress, known for her highly distinctive singing style and her 1953 recordings of "C'est si bon" and the enduring Christmas novelty smash "Santa Baby", which were both US Top 10 hits. She starred in 1967 as Catwoman, in the third and final season of the television series Batman. Orson Welles once called her the "most exciting woman in the world".

"In 1968, during Lyndon B. Johnson's administration, Kitt encountered a substantial professional setback after she made anti-war statements during a White House luncheon. Kitt was invited to the White House luncheon and was asked by Lady Bird Johnson about the Vietnam War.[citation needed] She replied: "You send the best of this country off to be shot and maimed. No wonder the kids rebel and take pot."

Her remarks reportedly caused Mrs. Johnson to burst into tears and led to a derailment in Kitt's career. The public reaction to Kitt's statements was extreme, both pro and con. Publicly ostracized in the United States, she devoted her energies to performances in Europe and Asia. It is said that Kitt's career in the United States was ended following her comments about the Vietnam War, after which she was branded "a sadistic nymphomaniac" by the CIA."
